STOREs AND GENERAL TECHNICAL ASSISTANT
Provide effective and efficient support to the Technical and Stage Services department. Responsible for, over and above principal accountability:
- Set, props and costume storage and management
- Maintenance support for the Stores and workshop
- Rentals – of workshop and set, props and costume.
Key Job Responsibilities:
■ Coordinate workshop space ■ Implement Occupational Health & Safety regulations for the workshop ■ Workshop maintenance and upkeep and liaison with outside users of the workshop when it is hired out ■ Keep a tool and stock registry and implement improvement strategies to support the Production Manager ■ Prepare set, props and costume for in-house productions and external hirers as well as return all set, props and costume to their allocated stores ■ Stores maintenance and upkeep – Manage set, props and costume inventory for productions ■ Work in conjunction with Sound and Lighting staff to maintain and improve stores ■ Act as a prop master for productions and hirers ■ Assist in the cataloguing of set, props and costume ■ Serve as a Stage Manager for Events – including but not limited to the Windybrow Arts Centre, Market Photo Workshop, Market Theatre Laboratory and booking related events ■ A background in stage management with basic skills in stage lighting and sound is advantageous ■ Run sound or lighting cues or both when required ■ Render support to the rental division with regard to technical stage services.
Key Competence Requirements & SKILLS:
■ Minimum 2-3 years technical and stores (workshop) maintenance related experience ■ Grade 12 (Matric) ■ Diploma in Administration or equivalent, and arts related qualification will be advantageous ■ Knowledge of Administrative and clerical procedures ■ Experience in technical duties (Sound, lighting, stage management, Inventory control & cataloguing) ■ Basic accounting skills ■ Computer skills ■ Communication skills ,both verbal & written with ability to communicate more than one South African official languages.
