Pretoria, South Africa – Equator Concepts Pty Ltd is thrilled to announce that Jayson Tsebe, a rising star in the world of Afrocentric music, will be headlining the Kippies Fringe Program. Known for his exceptional talent and passion for Afrocentric sounds, Jayson Tsebe has captivated audiences with his one-man band performances inspired by legendary artists such as Umanji, Oliver Mtukudzi, Philip Tabane, and Selaelo Selota.
Jayson Tsebe’s musical journey began in the rural areas of Limpopo, where he gained recognition for his African-inspired performances. This early success culminated in the release of his debut album, “Potential,” in 2018, which opened doors to major festivals and opportunities.
Having performed at renowned festivals such as The Marula Jazz Festival and Phangweni Vibes Music Festival, where he shared the stage with music icons like Salif Keita and Sjava, Jayson’s talent was quickly recognized. In 2019, he furthered his musical education by moving to Pretoria to study Musical Theatre, simultaneously organizing live music events that showcased collaborations with artists from various disciplines.
Not only an accomplished musician, but Jayson Tsebe has also made a mark in the theatrical world, securing lead roles in popular productions like Walt Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” and Dalro’s Dance season. In 2021, he graduated Cum Laude and released “Mapula The Rain Queen,” an audio musical he wrote, directed, and made available for free on YouTube.
